Copy text from any photo, screenshot or scan — in your language

Our Image to Text tool reads the words in an image and gives you clean, editable text with the same lines and paragraphs. It recognises Hindi, English and 35 languages by itself, can translate the result, and runs entirely in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.

Open Image to Text

Hindi, English and 35 languages

The language is detected automatically — Devanagari, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Gurmukhi, Odia, Urdu and more — or choose it yourself.

Two OCR engines, one answer

English and other Latin-script text is read by Tesseract and two PaddleOCR models, which vote on each line — so ₹ signs, & and clipped letters come out right. An accuracy score tells you when to double-check.

Any image you have

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), TIFF, BMP, GIF and SVG. Drop a file, paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, or take a photo with your phone camera.

Translate and download

Translate the text into 21 languages, copy it, or download a .txt file that opens correctly on Windows (including Hindi in Notepad), Mac and phones.

Private by design

Recognition happens on your own device. The image is never sent to a server — only the OCR engine and language files are downloaded once and cached.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image to text converter free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.

Can it extract Hindi text from an image?

Yes. Hindi and the other main Indian scripts are detected automatically. Clear, well-lit images with printed text give the best results; handwriting and decorative fonts are harder.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The text is recognised in your browser. Only the OCR engine and language models are downloaded the first time and then reused from the browser cache.

Does it work with PDFs?

Not yet. Take a screenshot of the PDF page, or export the page as an image, and drop that in.
